THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN TULSA HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 1000 AM CDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS...
 
IN NORTHEAST OKLAHOMA
 
   ...TULSA COUNTY
 
AT 645 AM...A SOLID AREA OF MODERATE RAIN CONTINUES OVER THE TULSA
METROPOLITAN AREA. THIS RAIN CONTINUES TO FALL AFTER A ROUND OF
THUNDERSTORMS HAD DRENCHED THE TULSA AREA EARLIER IN THE NIGHT.
 
THE TULSA POLICE DEPARTMENT HAS REPORTED WIDESPREAD STREET FLOODING OVER
PARTS OF SOUTH TULSA...ESPECIALLY AROUND LEWIS AND 51ST STREET.  THE
WORST STREET FLOODING IS OCCURRING SOUTH OF 31ST STREET.  RAINFALL
AMOUNTS OF 2 TO 3 INCHES HAVE BEEN REPORTED IN SOUTH TULSA DURING THE
PAST 4 HOURS.
 
PEOPLE IN LOW LYING AREAS SHOULD BE PREPARED TO MOVE QUICKLY IF HEAVY
RAINS CONTINUE AND FLOODING OCCURS.  MOTORISTS SHOULD BE VERY CAREFUL IF
THEY MUST DRIVE IN THE CITY EARLY THIS MORNING.
 
 
MOST FLASH FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES.  DO NOT DRIVE YOUR
VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY.  THE WATER
MAY BE TOO DEEP TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS SAFELY.  IF YOUR
VEHICLE GETS CAUGHT IN RISING WATER...ABANDONED IT QUICKLY.  THEN
MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
