000 TTAA00 KSTL 280807 FFWSTL ILC119-281300- BULLETIN - EBS ACTIVATION REQUESTED FLASH FLOOD WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE ST LOUIS MO 303 AM CDT THU APR 28 1994 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN ST LOUIS HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 800 AM CDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION... IN SOUTHWEST ILLINOIS ...MADISON COUNTY AT 3 AM...WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED THAT EXTREMELY HEAVY RAINS OVER WESTERN SECTIONS OF THE ST LOUIS METRO AREA WERE PUSHING INTO THE METRO EAST AREA. THE HEAVIEST RAINS EXTENDED FROM JUST NORTHEAST OF DOWNTOWN ST LOUIS...TO ABOUT 30 MILES SOUTHWEST OF ST LOUIS. THE STORMS CONTINUED TO MOVE EAST-NORTHEAST...WHICH MEANS TORRENTIAL RAINS AND FLASH FLOODING CAN BE EXPECTED OVER MADISON COUNTY DURING THE NEXT FEW HOURS. RAINFALL ESTIMATES FROM RADAR CONTINUE TO INDICATE THAT ONE TO TWO INCHES OF RAIN ARE POSSIBLE IN A VERY SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. MOST DEATHS IN FLASH FLOODING OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES.
