THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN BUFFALO HAS ISSUED A
TORNADO WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL  630 PM EDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS......
 
IN  NEW YORK
 
   ...CATTARAUGUS COUNTY
 
A POSSIBLE TORNADO WAS INDICATED ON RADAR BETWEEN THE VILLAGE OF
CATTARAUGUS AND ELLICOTTVILLE IN CATTARAUGUS COUNTY AT 600 PM. THE
TORNADO WAS MOVING EAST AT 45 MPH. REPORTS HAVE BEEN RECEIVED OF A
TORNADO IN THE TOWN OF FREEDOM.
 
 
BE ON THE ALERT FOR TORNADOES OR THUNDERSTORMS ACCOMPANIED BY
FREQUENT LIGHTNING...STRONG DAMAGING WINDS AND LARGE HAIL.  LOCALLY
HEAVY RAIN MAY ALSO CAUSE DRAINAGE FLOODING.
 
IF THREATENING WEATHER APPROACHES GO TO THE BASEMENT OR AN INTERIOR
ROOM OR HALLWAY AND GET UNDER A STURDY PIECE OF FURNITURE.  MOBILE
HOMES AND AUTOS OFFER LITTLE SHELTER FROM TORNADOES.
 
THIS IS A DANGEROUS STORM SITUATION.  ACT QUICKLY.  IF YOU ARE
IN THE PATH OF THIS TORNADO MOVE TO A SHELTER BELOW GROUND IF
AVAILABLE.  OTHERWISE...GO TO A SMALL INTERIOR ROOM ON THE LOWEST
FLOOR POSSIBLE.  AVOID WINDOWS.  ABANDON CARS AND MOBILE HOMES
FOR A REINFORCED BUILDING OR GET INTO A DITCH OR CULVERT.
