SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AND FLASH FLOOD WARNING
EFFECTIVE UNTIL  330 PM EDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS...
 
IN SOUTHEAST NEW YORK
 
   ...ROCKLAND COUNTY...WESTCHESTER COUNTY
 
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RADARS INDICATED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM ABOUT
TO ENTER ROCKLAND COUNTY NEAR SUFFERN.  IT WAS MOVING EAST AT 30
MILES AN HOUR AND WITH THE PRESENT MOTION WILL MOVE THROUGH SPRING
VALLEY AND NYACK IN ROCKLAND COUNTY AND ENTER WESTCHESTER
COUNTY NEAR TARRYTOWN AND THEN SHOULD PROCEDE THROUGH ELMSFORD AND WHI
PLAINS.
 
IN ADDITION TO POTENTIALLY DAMAGING WIND GUSTS...REPORTS OF RAINFALL
AMOUNTS OF BETWEEN ONE AND ONE AND HALF INCHES WITHIN AN HOUR AND
INTENSE GROUND TO LIGHTNING HAVE BEEN RECEIVED WITH THIS STORM.
 
THIS IS A DANGEROUS STORM.  IF YOU ARE IN ITS PATH YOU SHOULD
PREPARE FOR DAMAGING WIND IN EXCESS OF 58 MPH...LARGE HAIL...AND
DEADLY LIGHTNING.  PEOPLE OUTSIDE SHOULD MOVE TO A SHELTER...
PREFERABLY INSIDE A STRONG BUILDING BUT STAY AWAY FROMF WINDOWS.
