THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN ST LOUIS HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 1000 AM CDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS...

IN EAST CENTRAL MISSOURI

   ...PIKE COUNTY

IN NORTHEAST MISSOURI

   ...EASTERN MARION COUNTY...RALLS COUNTY

AT 540 AM THE HANNIBAL CIVIL DEFENSE REPORTED THAT SMALL CREEKS AND
STREAMS IN AND AROUND HANNIBAL VICINITY WERE FLOODING AND SOME STREET
FLOODING WAS OCCURING.

IN RALLS AND PIKE COUNTIES MISSOURI DOPPLER RADAR ESTIMATED THAT
RAINFALL AMOUNTS RANGE BETWEEN 3 AND 5 INCHES DURING THE NIGHT.  THIS
WILL CAUSE FLASH FLOODING ON SMALL STREAMS IN THESE COUNTIES.
THE HEAVIEST RAINFALL AMOUNTS WERE NORTHWEST OF BOWLING GREEN TO NEAR
THE CANNON DAM.

MOTORISTS SHOULD NOT DRIVE THROUGH STANDING OR FLOWING WATER.

PERSONS NEAR LOW LYING AREAS PRONE TO FLOODING SHOULD TAKE
THE NECESSARY PRECAUTIONS FOR SAFETY OF LIFE AND PROPERTY.



BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE
THE DANGERS OF FLOODS AND FLASH FLOODS.  IF FLASH FLOODING IS
OBSERVED...ACT QUICKLY.  MOVE UP TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS.  DO
NOT STAY IN AREAS SUBJECT TO FLOODING WHEN WATER BEGINS RISING.

DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY.  THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO
CROSS SAFELY.  VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE
ABANDONED QUICKLY.  MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
