THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN ATLANTA  HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL  545 AM EDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS...
 
IN NORTHWEST GEORGIA
 
   ...DEKALB COUNTY...CENTRAL AND SOUTH FULTON COUNTY
 
AT 12:30 AM...WEATHER SERVICE RADAR INDICATED HEAVY SHOWERS OVER PARTS
OF CENTRAL FULTON AND DEKALB COUNTIES. WATER IS RISING QUICKLY ON
PEACHTREE CREEK IN CENTRAL FULTON AND DEKALB COUNTIES AND MORE HEAVY
RAIN IS EXPECTED. A NEAR RECORD STAGE OF 20 FEET IS EXPECTED BY 4 AM.
THE RECORD IS 21 FEET. AT 12:30 AM THE GAGE ON NORTHSIDE DRIVE WAS
READING 16.0 FEET. FLOOD STAGE IS 17 FEET.
 
AT THE EXPECTED CREST OF 20 FEET...SIGNIFICANT FLOODING IS EXPECTED
INCLUDING WATER IN HOMES ALONG BISCAYNE ROAD AND IN THE COLONIAL HOMES
APARTMENTS.
 
SIGNIFICANT FLOODING OF OTHER CREEKS AND STREAMS IN THE AREA IS
EXPECTED. SERIOUS STREET FLOODING HAS BEEN REPORTED IN SOME AREAS
INCLUDING EAST POINT.
 
 
A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS OCCURRING OR IS
IMMINENT.  MOST FLASH FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES.  DO NOT
ATTEMPT TO CROSS BRIDGES...DIPS...OR LOW SPOTS IF WATER COVERS
THE ROADWAY.  NEVER TRY TO CROSS A FLOWING STREAM...EVEN A SMALL
ONE...ON FOOT.  TO ESCAPE RISING WATER MOVE UP TO HIGHER GROUND.
