THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM
WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 1000 PM CDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING
COUNTIES
IN THE NORTHWEST PART OF MINNESOTA
SOUTHERN POLK...RED LAKE...THE CITY OF CROOKSTON
AT 855 PM CDT RADAR INDICATED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM 10 MILES EAST
OF CROOKSTON MINNESOTA...AND IT WAS NEARLY STATIONARY.
THIS WARNING INCLUDES THE CITIES OF RED LAKE FALLS...BROOKS AND
GENTILLY. THIS WARNING REPLACES THE WARNING ISSUED AT 830 PM THAT
WAS VALID UNTIL 915 PM CDT.
SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCE DAMAGING WINDS IN EXCESS OF 55
MPH...DESTRUCTIVE HAIL...DEADLY LIGHTNING...AND VERY HEAVY RAIN.
FOR YOUR PROTECTION...MOVE TO AN INTERIOR ROOM ON THE LOWEST FLOOR
OF YOUR HOME OR BUSINESS.
THIS SLOW MOVING THUNDERSTORM MAY PRODUCE EXTREMELY HEAVY RAIN THAT
CAN QUICKLY FLOOD SMALL STREAMS...LOW LYING AREAS...AND UNDERPASSES.
DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WERE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY.
THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS SAFELY.
