FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL  900 PM MDT
FOR PEOPLE...
 
IN CENTRAL NEW MEXICO
 
   ...SOUTHWEST AND SOUTHCENTRAL BERNALILLO COUNTY...WESTERN AND
      CENTRAL VALENCIA COUNTY...
 
RADAR AND SATELLITE PICTURES INDICATE STRONG THUNDERSTORMS EXTENDING
FROM NORTHCENTRAL NEW MEXICO SOUTHWEST INTO THE GILA AREA. THE
STRONGEST THUNDERSTORMS WERE LOCATED JUST SOUTH OF THE ALBUQUERQUE
AIRPORT SOUTHWEST INTO WESTERN VALENCIA COUNTY.  MOVEMENT OF THESE
THUNDERSTORMS WAS SLOWLY SOUTHEAST.
 
LOCALLY HEAVY RAINS...SMALL HAIL AND NUMEROUS LIGHTING STRIKES ARE
LIKELY OVER THE NEXT HOUR OR TWO WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF FLASH
FLOODING.  THIS WARNING INCLUDES THE TOWNS SOUTH OF THE ALBUQUERQUE
INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT INTO AND INCLUDING THE TOWN OF BELEN.
 
A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS OCCURRING OR IS
IMMINENT.  MOST FLASH FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES.  DO NOT
ATTEMPT TO CROSS BRIDGES...DIPS...OR LOW SPOTS IF WATER COVERS
THE ROADWAY.  NEVER TRY TO CROSS A FLOWING STREAM...EVEN A SMALL
ONE...ON FOOT.  TO ESCAPE RISING WATER MOVE UP TO HIGHER GROUND.
