THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN TOPEKA HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL  500 AM CDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES...
 
IN EAST CENTRAL KANSAS
          ...FRANKLIN...OSAGE
 
THE FLASH FLOOD WARNINGS FOR OSAGE AND FRANKLIN COUNTIES
OF EAST CENTRAL KANSAS HAVE BEEN EXTENDED UNTIL 5AM CDT.
 
TWO TO POSSIBLY 4 INCHES OF RAIN HAS FALLEN ON PARTS OF OSAGE
AND FRANKLIN COUNTIES SINCE ABOUT 9PM SUNDAY EVENING. THESE
RAINS HAVE CAUSED RAPID RISES ON RIVERS AND CREEKS WITH
PONDING OF WATER ON ROADWAYS AND IN FLOOD PRONE AREAS.
 
ADDITIONAL RAIN IS INDICATED BY RADAR AND WILL CONTINUE ACROSS
OSAGE AND FRANKLIN COUNTIES UNTIL ABOUT 5AM THIS MORNING.
RESIDENTS OF OSAGE AND FRANKLIN COUNTIES...ESPECIALLY THOSE
IN FLOOD PRONE OR LOW LYING AREAS...SHOULD BE ALERT TO RISING
WATERS.
 
DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE ACROSS WATER-COVERED ROADWAYS. THE
WATER DEPTH AND CURRENT MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO
CROSS SAFELY.  VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE
ABANDONED QUICKLY.
 
BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS0 HARDER TO RECOGNIZE
THE DANGERS OF FLOODS AND FLASH FLOODS.  IF FLASH FLOODING IS
OBSERVED...ACT QUICKLY. DO NOT STAY IN AREAS SUBJECT TO FLOODING
WHEN WATER BEGINS TO RISE.
