000 TTAA00 KPHX 060055 SVRPHX AZC015-060245- BULLETIN - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AND FLASH FLOOD WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PHOENIX ARIZONA 547 PM MST SUN AUG 5 1990 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PHOENIX ARIZONA HAS ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AND FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 800 PM MST FOR THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS...... IN NORTHWEST ARIZONA ...SOUTHWESTERN MOHAVE COUNTY...WHICH INCLUDES THE COLORADO RIVER VALLEY BETWEEN PARKER DAM...NORTH THROUGH LAKE HAVASU AND GOLDEN SHORES...TO BULLHEAD CITY. THUNDERSTORMS WHICH DEVELOPED OVER THE MOUNTAINS NEAR KINGMAN AND PRESCOTT HAVE EXPANDED WEST AND SOUTHWEST TOWARDS THE COLORADO RIVER VALLEY. AT 545 PM WEATHER RADAR AND SATELLITE PICTURES SHOWED A LINE OF THUNDERSTORMS MOVING TOWARDS THE COLORADO RIVER COMMUNITIES OF PARKER DAM...LAKE HAVASU...GOLDEN SHORES...BULLHEAD CITY... AS WELL AS SECTIONS OF HIGHWAYS 95...40...AND 68. STRONG WINDS IN EXCESS OF 60 MPH ARE EXPECTED TO MOVE INTO THE COLORADO RIVER AREA BETWEEN 6 AND 730 PM...FOLLOWED BY BRIEF HEAVY RAIN AND HAIL THAT COULD LEAD TO FLASH FLOODING. THE COMBINED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AND FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR SOUTHWEST MOHAVE COUNTY IS POSTED UNTIL 8PM. SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAUSE DAMAGING WINDS...LARGE HAIL AND DEADLY LIGHTNING. MOVE INSIDE A REINFORCED BUILDING OR STORM SHELTER. GO TO AN INTERIOR ROOM OR HALLWAY ON THE LOWEST FLOOR. STAY AWAY FROM WINDOWS. MOBILE HOMES ARE IN DANGER FROM SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WINDS...
