THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN EVANSVILLE HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL  530 PM CST
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES...
 
IN SOUTH CENTRAL KENTUCKY
          ...CHRISTIAN...MUHLENBERG
 
AT 220 PM CST...THE KENTUCKY DES REPORTED THAT SEVERAL HOUSES WERE
BEING EVACUATED IN HOPKINSVILLE KENTUCKY IN CHRISTIAN COUNTY. THE
SOUTH FORK WAS RISING RAPIDLY AND 15 TO 20 HOUSES WERE BEING
EVACUATED IN CHERROKEE PARKS AND 4 MORE HOUSES ON WEST 7TH STREET.
IN MUHLENBERG COUNTY...HIGHWAY 1153 HAS A 4 MILES STRETCH THAT WAS
FLOODED WITH 2 BRIDGES COMPLETELY UNDER WATER. THIS WAS REPORTED BY
THE DES.
 
A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS OCCURRING OR IS
IMMINENT.  MOST FLASH FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES.  DO NOT
ATTEMPT TO CROSS BRIDGES...DIPS...OR LOW SPOTS IF WATER COVERS
THE ROADWAY.  NEVER TRY TO CROSS A FLOWING STREAM...EVEN A SMALL
ONE...ON FOOT.  TO ESCAPE RISING WATER MOVE UP TO HIGHER GROUND.
