THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN DES MOINES HAS ISSUED A
TORNADO WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 115 AM CDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING COUNTY...

IN CENTRAL IOWA
          ...SOUTHERN JASPER

AT 1225 AM...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RADAR INDICATED A STRONG
THUNDERSTORM IN WESTERN JASPER COUNTY...LOCATED ABOUT 20 TO 30 MILES
EAST OF DES MOINES.  AT 1220 AM...WINDS OF 50 TO 60 MILES WERE REPORTED
NEAR PRAIRIE CITY.  AT ABOUT 1218 AM...A FUNNEL CLOUD WAS SIGHTED BY A
SPOTTER IN THE VICINITY OF PRAIRIE CITY.

AT 1232 AM...A TROOPER HAD SPOTTED A TORNADO ABOUT 5 MILES SOUTH OF
PRAIRIE CITY.

THIS STORM WAS MOVING EAST NORTHEAST AT 10 TO 15 MILES AN HOUR.
