FLASH FLOOD WARNING
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE WILLIAMSPORT PA
120 PM EDT THU OCT 11 1990

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD WARNING
EFFECTIVE UNTIL 530 PM EDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES OF

NORTH CENTRAL PENNSYLVANIA...NORTHERN TIOGA

THE FEEDER STREAMS FLOWING INTO THE COWANESQUE RIVER WILL RISE ABOVE
BANKFULL AND WILL CAUSE MINOR TO MODERATE FLOODING. THE COWANESQUE
RIVER STAGE AT KNOXVILLE WAS 6.5 FEET AT 120 PM EDT AND HAD RISEN ONE
AND A HALF FEET IN A HALF HOUR. FLOOD STAGE AT KNOXVILLE IS 9 FEET.
MODERATE TO HEAVY RAIN WAS STILL FALLING IN THE COWANESQUE RIVER
BASIN. MINOR TO MODERATE FLOODING CAN ALSO BE EXPECTED ALONG THE
COWANESQUE RIVER THIS AFTERNOON.

A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLASH FLOODING IS IMMINENT OR IS
ALREADY OCCURRING.  TAKE NECESSARY SAFETY STEPS OR PRECAUTIONS AS SOON
AS POSSIBLE.

TO REPORT FLOODING CALL THE NEAREST LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY OR
EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT OFFICE AND ASK THEM TO RELAY YOUR REPORT TO THE
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE.
