830 PM EDT TUE AUG 28 1990

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A TORNADO WARNING EFFECTIVE
UNTIL 930 PM EDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING NEW YORK COUNTIES...

CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY

AT 830 PM...BUFFALO WEATHER RADAR DETECTED AN AREA OF SEVERE
THUNDERSTORMS OVER LAKE ERIE FROM CLEVELAND TO 10 MILES WEST OF THE
CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHORELINE.

STRONG WINDS WERE BEING REPORTED BY HAM RADIO OPERATORS OF THE
SKYWARN NETWORK ALONG THE CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHORE.  THESE CELLS ARE
ANOTHER IN A SERIES OF STORMS THAT PRODUCED FUNNEL CLOUDS ACROSS
THE SOUTHERN TIER THIS EVENING.

THE STORMS WERE MOVING EAST SOUTHEAST AT 45 MILES AN HOUR.

BE ON THE ALERT FOR TORNADOES OR THUNDERSTORMS ACCOMPANIED BY FREQUENT
LIGHTNING.. STRONG DAMAGING WINDS AND LARGE HAIL.  LOCALLY HEAVY RAIN
MAY ALSO CAUSE DRAINAGE FLOODING.

IF THREATENING WEATHER APPROACH	ES GO TO TO THE BASEMENT OR AN INTERIOR
ROOM OR HALLWAY AND GET UNDER A STURDY PIECE OF FURNITURE.  MOBILE HOMES
AND AUTOS OFFER LITTLE SHELTER FROM TORNADOES.
