NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PHILADELPHIA PA
600 PM EDT WED SEP 20 1989

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A URBAN AND SMALL
STREAM FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 900 PM EDT FOR PEOPLE IN
THE FOLLOWING COUNTY

   IN THE WEST CENTRAL PART OF NEW JERSEY
      MERCER

WEATHER SERVICE RADAR AT 545 PM INDICATED HEAVY RAIN OVER MUCH OF MERCER
COUNTY IN WEST CENTRAL NEW JERSEY.  A WEATHER SERVICE SPOTTER REPORTED
THAT AN ADDITIONAL 1.6 INCHES OF RAIN FELL BETWEEN 300 AND 530 PM.

GROUND CONDITIONS REMAIN SATURATED FROM HEAVY RAIN WHICH FELL EARLIER
TODAY...AND SIGNIFICANT RUNOFF WILL ONCE AGAIN CAUSE URBAN AND SMALL
STREAM FLOODING IN MERCER COUNTY.

ADDITIONAL HEAVY RAIN WAS INDICATED ON RADAR OVER NORTHERN DELAWARE
AT 545 THIS AFTERNOON.  THIS AREA OF PRECIPITATION WAS MOVING NORTHEAST
AT 25 MILES AN HOUR.  THIS AREA OF PRECIPITATION MAY MOVE INTO MERCER
COUNTY THIS EVENING...AND CONTINUE FLOODING PROBLEMS INTO EARLY TONIGHT.

IF YOU LIVE IN MERCER COUNTY IN AN AREA SUBJECT TO FLOODING...PLEASE
MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND IMMEDIATELY.  DO NOT DRIVE THROUGH FLOOD WATERS.
CLIMBING ATOP YOUR STALLED VEHICLE WILL NOT PREVENT YOU FROM BEING SWEPT
INTO DANGEROUS STREAM CONDITIONS AS WATER LEVELS RISE.

A SMALL STREAM AND URBAN FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR THE LEHIGH
AND SOUTHEAST PORTIONS OF PENNSYLVANIA THROUGH THIS EVENING.

A FLOOD WARNING CONTINUES IN EFFECT FOR THE RANCOCAS CREEK IN BURLINGTON
COUNTY FOR TONIGHT.
