THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE
UNTIL  100 AM CDT TUESDAY MORNING FOR PERSONS IN THE FOLLOWING
COUNTIES...

SOUTHEAST TEXAS...
                  GALVESTON

AT 930 PM CDT... TODAY'S VERY HEAVY RAINFALL IN COMBINATION WITH HIGH
ASTRONOMICAL TIDES AND 4 TO 5 FOOT OF STORM SURGE HAS PUSHED 
HIGHLAND BAYOU OUT OF BANKS AT HIGHWAY 6 NEAR HIGHLAND BAYOU.

HICHCOCK POLICE REPORT THE RAINFALL IS VERY SLOW TO RUNOFF AND 
FLOODING CONTINUES ALONG HIGHWAY 6 FROM I-45 TO 1 MILE NORTHWEST 
OF BAYOU VISTA.

A FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS OCCURRING OR IS IMMINENT.
MOST FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CROSS
BRIDGES... DIPS... OR LOW SPOTS IF WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. NEVER
TRY TO CROSS A FLOWING STREAM... EVEN A SMALL ONE... ON FOOT. TO
ESCAPE RISINGj WATER MOVE UP TO HIGHER GROUND.
