BULLETTIN IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED
FLOOD WARNING
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BUFFALO NY
0800 AM EDT THU MAY 11 1989

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL
NOON FRIDAY FOR PEOPLE IN CATTARAUGUS AND CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY.

AT 7 AM TODAY THE ALLEGHENY RIVER IS AT STAGE 9 FEET OR A FOOT BELOW
FLOOD STAGE.  THIS IS EXPECTED TO RISE AND CREST AT MIDNIGHT TONIGHT AT
11 FEET.  SOME ROAD FLOODING IS EXPECTED.

CHAUTAUQUA LAKE WAS AT STAGE 9.3 FEET THIS MORNING. THIS WILL RISE
SLOWLY AND CREST FRIDAY MORNING NEAR THE FLOOD STAGE OF 10 FEET.

LOCALIZED FLOODING OF POOR DRAINAGE AND LOW LYING AREAS IS ALSO LIKELY.
MANY SMALL STREAMS MAY BE OVER THEIR BANKS AND SOME ROADS COVERED WITH
WATER.  ANOTHER HALF INCH OF RAIN IS POSSIBLE TODAY.

A FLOOD WARNING MEANS FLOODING IS IMMINENT OR HAS BEEN REPORTED. TAKE
PRECAUTIONS TO PROTECT PROPERTY.  DONT TRY TO DRIVE THROUGH FLOODED
AREAS.
