450 PM EDT SUN JUL 12 1987

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A TORNADO AND SPECIAL MARINE
WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 515 PM FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES

OF NORTHERN MICHIGAN..CHIPPEWA AND ADJACENT COASTAL WATERS OF LAKE
HURON..AND THE ST MARY'S RIVER SYSTEM

AT 450 PM THE SHERIFF IN DETOUR REPORTED A TORNADO ON THE GROUND     
IN DETOUR.

THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION. PEOPLE IN THE PATH OF THIS
TORNADO SHOULD MOVE TO A SHELTER BELOW GROUND..IF AVAILABLE.
OTHERWISE..GO TO A SMALL CENTRAL INTERIOR ROOM ON THE LOWEST FLOOR
POSSIBLE. ABANDON CARS AND MOBILE HOMES FOR A REINFORCED BUILDING.
BOATERS SHOULD GO TO A SAFE HARBOR IMMEDIATELY.
