TORNADO WARNING
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BURLINGTON VT
445 PM EDT FRI AUG 8 1986

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A TORNADO WARNING 
EFFECTIVE UNTIL 540 PM EDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING COUNTY OF

VERMONT...CENTRAL CHITTENDEN

AT 4.40 ESSEX POLICE REPORTED A TORNADO BETWEEN ESSEX CENTER
AND JERICHO VERMONT MOVING TO THE EAST.

A TORNADO WATCH IS ALSO IN EFFECT FOR THE WARNED AREA.  THESE STORMS
COULD PRODUCE A TORNADO WITH LITTLE WARNING.

THIS IS A DANGEROUS STORM.  IF YOU/RE IN THE WARNED AREA..
ESPECIALLY BOATING ON A LAKE..MOVE TO A SAFE SHELTER FAST.
BE READY FOR DAMAGING WINDS..LARGE HAIL AND LIGHTNING.

GET TO A SHELTERED PLACE FAST IF THE WEATHER LOOKS THREATENING.
HIGH WINDS WILL DOWN BRANCHES AND POWER LINES..AND MAY UPROOT
TREES.  SO STAY OUT OF SPOTS WHERE FALLING DEBRIS COULD BE
DANGEROUS.

IF THREATENING WEATHER APPROACHES..GO TO A SAFXE PLACE RIGHT AWAY.
ONCE THE STORM PASSES..CALL AND REPORT ANY SEVERE WEATHER TO YOUR
NEAREST LAW ENFORCMENT PEOPLE.  ASK THEM TO RELAY YOUR REPORT TO
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN ALBANY.
