THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM
WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 645 PM EDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING
COUNTY OF

NEW YORK...NORTHERN CORTLAND

AT 445  PM EDT RADAR SHOWED A THUNDERSTORM WITH VERY HEAVY RAIN
JUST TO THE NORTH OF CORTLAND.


THIS STORM ALSO CONTAINS FREQUENT LIGHTNING.  REMEMBER..LIGHTNING
CAN BE A KILLER.
THIS THUNDERSTORM MAY CAUSE FLOODING OF SMALL STREAMS..ROADS AND
UNDERPASSES.

DOWNPOURS MAY BRING STREAM LEVELS UP VERY FAST.  MAKE SURE OF AN
ACCESS ROUTE TO HIGH GROUND THAT WON/T BE CUT OFF BY RISING WATERS.

DON/T DRIVE OVER FLOODED ROADS OR BRIDGES.  WATER ON ROADS MAY HIDE
DANGEROUS WASHOUTS.  ALSO..DON/T TRY TO WADE ACROSS STREAMS OR
RIVERS WHERE THE WATER IS HIGH.  YOU COULD EASILY BE WASHED AWAY.

GET TO A SHELTERED PLACE FAST IF THE WEATHER LOOKS THREATENING.
HIGH WINDS WILL DOWN BRANCHES AND POWER LINES..AND MAY UPROOT
TREES.  SO STAY OUT OF SPOTS WHERE FALLING DEBRIS COULD BE
DANGEROUS.

IF THREATENING WEATHER APPROACHES..GO TO A SAFE PLACE RIGHT AWAY.
