Saturday, light southeasterly to southerly winds will hinder dispersion and allow regional thin smoke and other pollutants to linger over Louisiana. Furthermore, sunny and hot conditions will continue to promote ozone formation. Therefore, AQI levels will be low- to mid-Moderate in most locations, with high-Moderate AQI levels expected in Baton Rouge. Sunday and Monday, as surface high pressure settles over the Bayou State, light and variable winds will inhibit dispersion, allowing pollutants to remain over the state. In addition, mostly sunny and hot conditions will be conducive for ozone production each afternoon. Thus, AQI levels will be low- to mid-Moderate in most cities on both days.
